Thinking of changing accountants? Here are answers to common questions about our service, fees and getting started.

How easy is it to change accountants and why should I change?

If your existing accountant is offering an excellent proactive service at a fair fee, stick with them. But different accountants save you different amounts of tax and offer different levels of advice. If your current accountant doesn't offer what you're after, switching is easy — it takes one letter from you and we handle the rest. Your existing accountant isn't normally allowed to charge for the standard handover information.

You seem to offer a lot. Are your fees expensive?

No. We offer fixed fees linked to the value we provide. We're not always the cheapest, and the cheapest option is often the most expensive in the long run — but we offer excellent value, and we never start work without agreeing fees in advance.

I've just had my accounts done and don't need an accountant until next year — is there any need to contact you now?

Tax planning matters most when done early, not as crisis-driven advice. Ideally before the tax year even starts, but the earlier the better regardless. We're about helping you change the future, not just reporting on what's already happened.

Will you come to visit us for an initial consultation?

Yes — it often helps to see your business and records first-hand, and we're always happy to invest that time without charge. If you'd rather visit us, that's fine too.

When and how soon can you come to see us?

Whenever suits you. If you need to see someone urgently, we're always out and about and can usually arrange a quick visit.

Is your fixed quote guaranteed for more than one year?

We're not in the business of quoting low just to win your business and then raising fees. We quote a fair fee for the value provided, and would only expect normal inflationary increases if the work stays the same. Occasionally the amount of work involved is more than expected, and we'd discuss that with you directly — in some cases we can guarantee a fee for more than one year.

How do I know you'll actually deliver on this?

As accountants, you'd expect us to be a bit analytical — which is true. You're welcome to speak to existing clients about their experience of our service.
