Gross Profit Calculator
Turn revenue and direct costs into gross profit, gross margin and markup.
Margin and markup answer different questions
Gross profit is sales less direct cost. Margin expresses that profit as a percentage of sales; markup expresses it as a percentage of cost. A £100 sale costing £60 has a 40% margin and a 66.67% markup.
Use figures for the same period, excluding recoverable VAT. Gross profit is before overheads and tax. Negative results show a gross loss; markup is undefined if cost is zero.
